Selenium is an essential trace element for ruminants required for normal growth and fertility. When applied in the soil in combination with nitrogen, our selenium-enriched yeast produces selenium-enriched plants and replaces current toxic solutions (Se salt).
This Se-supplemented inactivated yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae NCYC R397 + organic Se) protects cattle from Selenium (Se) deficiency and replaces current toxic solutions (Se salt).
It has been discovered that the application of a selenium-enriched yeast to the soil in combination with a nitrogen fertilizer produces selenium-enriched plants. Moreover, the amount of selenium metal supplied by the selenium-enriched yeast used is lower than the amount of selenium metal required to achieve the same plant enrichment when inorganic selenium salts are used.
